During third period on Wednesday, September 12th, the students of Fredericton High School were surprised by a fire drill during advisory/study hall period.
The students quickly exited the building and lined up outside the school. The homeroom teachers took attendance and the administration circulated to check in with the teachers.
Once all the students had been accounted for, they re-entered the building and returned to their homeroom classes for the remainder of third period.
Samm Phillips, a grade twelve student from Fredericton High School was one of many Fredericton High School students to evacuate the building.
“It was quite efficient. I mean, we were all expecting it but the fact that everyone got outside to their homeroom teachers was very impressive,” said Phillips.
In the past couple years, it has been typical for Fredericton High School to have several fire drills during the first few weeks of school. This is their first fire drill for the school year 2012-2013. According to the announcement made by the FHS administration, students should be expecting more fire drills during the weeks to come.
